Privacy Notice

This notice explains how websaleem.com handles personal information, in line with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Government's Voluntary AI Safety Standard.
1. Who is responsible
This site is operated by Saleem Khan as a personal portfolio. Contact: mdsaleem@gmail.com.
2. The AI assistant ("Ini")
The chat widget on this site, named Ini, is an AI assistant — not a person — powered by an AI model (Anthropic Claude) hosted on Amazon Bedrock. Responses are generated by AI and may be inaccurate, incomplete, or out of date.
- What is collected: the text you type into the chat, and the last few messages in your current session for conversational context.
- Why: to generate a response to your question.
- Where it is processed: Amazon Web Services in the Sydney region (ap-southeast-2) only. Your messages are not transferred to AWS regions outside Australia.
- Retention: conversation history is kept only in your browser for the duration of your visit and is not stored in a database by this site. Operational logs from the chat backend (e.g. CloudWatch) are retained for up to 30 days for security, debugging, and abuse prevention, then automatically deleted.
- Sharing: messages are sent to AWS / Anthropic only to produce a reply. They are not sold or shared with marketers.
- Please do not share personal, financial, health, or other sensitive information with the assistant.
3. Contact form
If you use the "Send a Message" form, your name, email, and message are forwarded to me by email so I can reply. They are not used for marketing.
4. Cookies and analytics
This site uses a short-lived verification cookie (prefixed vv_) to confirm legitimate browser visits and filter automated traffic. The cookie contains a time-bound, server-signed token (HMAC). They are not sold or used for advertising.
Cookies are set with Secure and SameSite=Strict attributes and expire within approximately 30 seconds. If replay-protection is enabled, a short-lived verification record (TTL ~1 hour) may be stored in a secure database (DynamoDB) to prevent duplicate alerts. Standard server logs (IP address, user agent, request path) may also be retained for security purposes.

5. Your rights
You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of any personal information held about you, and you can complain about how your information has been handled, by emailing mdsaleem@gmail.com.
6. Reporting AI issues
If the AI assistant gives an incorrect, offensive, or otherwise problematic response, please report it to mdsaleem@gmail.com with the question you asked and the response you received.

This notice may be updated from time to time. The "Last updated" date above reflects the most recent change.
