Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before installing or using the SecureBin mobile application ("the App", "SecureBin", "we", "us"). By installing or using SecureBin you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not install or use the App.

1. Acceptance of Terms

These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and the developer of SecureBin (Saleem Khan). Your continued use of the App after any update to these Terms constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

2. Description of the App

SecureBin is a mobile application for iOS and Android that uses your device camera and Amazon Bedrock's vision AI to classify waste items into one of eight bin categories, tailored to your Australian state and council. The App is designed as a personal waste sorting aid. Scan results and history are stored locally on your device. A cropped image and your location preference (state and council) are sent to a cloud backend for AI processing. See our Privacy Policy for details.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years of age to use SecureBin. By using the App you represent that you meet this requirement. If you are under 18, you should review these Terms with a parent or guardian.

4. License

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use SecureBin solely for your own personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not:

• Copy, modify, or distribute the App or its source code without explicit written permission.
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the App.
• Use the App to build a competing product or service.
• Remove or alter any proprietary notices or labels in the App.
• Attempt to access the backend API infrastructure other than through normal use of the App.

5. Accuracy of Classification & Government Disclaimer

SecureBin is an independent application and does not represent, nor is it affiliated with, any government entity.

SecureBin provides bin classification advice generated by an AI model. While we strive for accuracy, AI classification may occasionally be incorrect. The guidelines provided by this App are sourced from publicly available official Australian state and council authorities (including the ACT Government, NSW EPA, NT Government, Queensland Government, SA EPA, Tasmania EPA, Victoria EPA, Government of WA, and local council .gov.au websites). However, bin rules vary by council and change over time. You should:

• Use SecureBin's advice as a guide, not as a definitive or legally binding instruction.
• Verify advice with your local council's official resources when in doubt, particularly for hazardous materials, e-waste, or items flagged as "blue" (drop-off required).
• Ensure your selected state and council are up to date in Settings for the most relevant advice.

We are not responsible for any fines, penalties, or consequences arising from incorrect waste disposal decisions made based on SecureBin's output.

6. User Responsibilities

You agree to use SecureBin only for lawful purposes. You are solely responsible for:

• Ensuring that items you photograph and dispose of comply with your local council's waste guidelines.
• The safe handling and disposal of hazardous materials, regardless of the App's classification.
• Keeping your selected state and council accurate in the App's Settings.
• Not using the App to scan, transmit, or store any content that is unlawful, offensive, or that infringes third-party rights.

7. Data and Privacy

Your use of SecureBin is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. Key points:

• Only the cropped capture image, your state, and your council name are sent to the backend for AI processing.
• Uploaded images are deleted from AWS S3 immediately after classification. Job records in DynamoDB expire after 24 hours.
• Scan history and location preferences are stored exclusively on your device and are never synced to a server.
• No account, login, or personal identification is required to use the App.

8. Third-Party Services

SecureBin integrates with the following third-party services. Your use of those services is subject to their own terms and privacy policies:

• Amazon Web Services (AWS) — CloudFront, Lambda, S3, DynamoDB, and Amazon Bedrock are used for image upload, AI classification, and result retrieval.

We are not responsible for the practices, availability, or content of any third-party service.

9. Intellectual Property

All rights, title, and interest in SecureBin — including its source code, design, icons, and documentation — are owned by Saleem Khan. Nothing in these Terms transfers any intellectual property rights to you.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

SecureBin is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the App will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that bin classification results will be accurate in all cases or consistent with your council's current guidelines.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Saleem Khan shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use SecureBin, including but not limited to incorrect waste classification, disposal fines, or service interruptions. Total liability for any claim arising under these Terms shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App (which, if free, is zero).

12. Updates to the App

We may release updates to SecureBin at any time via the App Store or Google Play. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the App or its backend services at any time without notice or liability.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The revised Terms will be published at https://www.websaleem.com/securebin/terms.html with an updated date. Continued use of the App after revised Terms are posted constitutes your acceptance of the changes.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Australia. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be resolved in the jurisdiction where the developer is domiciled, unless prohibited by local law.
